Biography
Christian Staehely’s practice focuses on complex civil and commercial litigation, including business disputes, breach-of-contract claims, entertainment-industry disputes, aviation matters, product liability, energy-related disputes, transportation and trucking litigation, high-exposure personal injury defense, and other civil litigation.
Christian represents Fortune 500 companies, privately held businesses, insurers, transportation companies, aviation companies, energy companies, product manufacturers, entertainers, artists, and other corporate clients in Texas state and federal courts. His experience includes commercial contracts, business torts, insurance disputes, indemnity issues, arbitration agreements, temporary restraining orders and injunctions, entertainment-industry contracts, product liability matters, transportation accidents, aviation-related disputes, industrial incidents, catastrophic injury claims, and multi-party litigation.
Christian handles all phases of litigation, including pre-suit investigation, pleadings, discovery, depositions, expert development, dispositive motion practice, arbitration-related briefing, mediation, settlement negotiations, trial preparation, and appellate briefing. He works directly with in-house counsel, insurers, corporate representatives, experts, co-counsel, and business principals to develop litigation strategy, evaluate exposure, prepare witnesses, and pursue efficient resolutions. He also maintains an active pro bono practice and has represented an incarcerated plaintiff in a federal civil-rights excessive-force action, achieving a negotiated settlement.
Prior to his legal career, Christian played professional baseball in the Seattle Mariners organization and worked in the music and entertainment industry in Nashville, Tennessee, including as head of the creative department for a music publishing company and later as a songwriter and composer. His entertainment-industry background gives him practical insight into creative-business disputes, contract relationships, and the business realities facing artists, entertainers, and content owners.
Christian earned his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 2018, where he served as President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Organization and competed in the Tulane National Baseball Arbitration Competition. He earned his B.A. in Psychology from Princeton University in 2008. He is a dual U.S.–Sweden citizen and a longtime youth baseball coach in the Houston area.
