Biography
Shannon’s practice focuses on eminent domain and condemnation, commercial disputes, and civil litigation matters, including personal injury defense.
Shannon brings a combination of in-house and private practice experience representing utility, energy, and pipeline clients in complex land acquisition and litigation matters. Prior to rejoining Hicks Davis Wynn, she served as Senior Counsel at CenterPoint Energy, where she was the lead legal counsel for electric and gas acquisition projects across the company’s service territories. In that role, she managed all phases of litigation from pre-condemnation planning through trial and appeal, negotiated easements and land use agreements, and worked closely with executive leadership and operational teams to ensure infrastructure projects remained on track.
In addition to her eminent domain practice, Shannon represented the company in complex personal injury and property damage litigation arising from automobile accidents and provided strategic support in conducting significant internal investigations addressing key operational risks.
Prior to her in-house role, Shannon practiced at regional law firms, including Hicks Davis Wynn, PC and Winstead PC, where she represented clients in eminent domain and condemnation proceedings, advised on contract and commercial disputes, and defended insurers and policyholders in personal injury litigation. Before pursuing a career in litigation, Shannon developed a background in Human Resources and Labor Relations in the healthcare and maritime industries, experience that continues to inform her legal practice.
Shannon earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center and holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, cum laude, with a minor in Energy & Sustainability from the University of Houston.
She is an Alumni Board Member for the University of Houston Law Center, a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, and serves on The Terry Foundation Alumni Advisory Board.
